MELEC mechanical lugs & connectors are reliable and efficient ways of connecting of power cables or with other energy devices. They are applied to various cross-sections and materials up to 35 kV.

The connections must transmit electrical energy - means high current - during the whole lifetime without negative influence on joints, terminations and plugs concerning their thermal, mechanical and insulation behaviour.
Oil Blocking:
• Ensures proper conductor positioning
• Isolates oil leakage when connecting PILC conductors
Bolt and Insert:
• Double layers of shear-off-head interacts with the insert allows a big span-range application
Body:
• Made of high strength, tin-plated aluminium alloy

• Indented groove and insert improve electrical and mechanical performance

Mechanical Connectors versus Crimping Connectors
  • Mechanical connections-screwing

    No special tools for installation, only a socket spanner or a wrench is needed.

    Only 5 sizes cover conductor cross-sections from 1.5mm² to 1000mm².

    Are adapted to the cross section range of the accessories.

    Copper and aluminium conductors, which could be round or sectoral shaped, stranded or solid, can be connected.

    Easy installation. Torque design provides easy installation of the bolts.

    After installation, the length and outer diameter will not change.

  • Compression connections – crimping

    Heavy crimping tools and a lot of different dies are necessary.

    For every cross section, a specfic crimping connector is needed.

    A copper conductor needs a copper connector.

    An aluminium conductor needs an aluminium connector.

    Complex installation.

    After installation, connector body will be stretched a little.
